made the frugi way

Recyclable Clothing

Designed for endless adventures

In 2023, Frugi launched the planet’s first certified circular children’s wear collection – a milestone in sustainable fashion for little ones. Since then, we’ve continued to push boundaries, winning two Drapers Conscious Fashion Awards: in 2024 for Best Circularity Initiative, and again in 2026 for Circular Fashion, celebrating our ongoing innovation and commitment to a circular future.

There’s more to sustainability than just recycling...

Woven into every stitch of our Circular Collection is our Frugi commitment to making clothes last longer. We understand that little ones grow fast, which is why we create durable, versatile designs with thoughtful details, like extendable sleeves, adjustable straps, and pass-me-on labels, helping to keep garments in use for as long as possible. Not only have we designed a range of recyclable clothing, but we’ve also crafted pieces that are both recyclable and made from recycled materials, further reducing textile waste and promoting a circular future.

Our clothes aren't just outfits; they’re companions for adventure, made to be cherished then handed down for more playtime with a new friend. When our circular styles reach the end of their wearable life, customers can send them back to us. Once we have collected a minimum of 325 recyclable products, we pass them on to our specialist partner, LMB, who uses textile to textile recyclers to convert them into new fabrics, helping reduce textile waste.

We worked closely with the Circular Textiles Foundation to upskill our team and, in 2023, launched the planet’s first certified circular childrenswear collection. Since then, we have brought this expertise in-house, with our highly skilled internal team now leading the design of more recyclable options than ever before, ultimately reducing textile waste.

In 2024, we were honoured to win the Drapers Sustainability Award for Best Circularity Initiative, recognising our continued commitment to innovation in this space. Building on this momentum, in 2026 Frugi was proud to receive the Drapers Conscious Fashion Award for Circular Fashion, celebrating our progress in textile-to-textile recycling, recycled cotton and fleece made from recycled textiles. These innovations help close the loop, keeping garments in play for longer through passing on, patching up, or recycling back into new fabrics.

FAQs

What is the Frugi Circular Collection?

The Frugi Circular Collection is designed with circularity principles in mind. These garments are made to last, be passed on, and eventually be recycled into new fabrics, reducing waste and supporting a more sustainable future.

What makes these clothes "circular"?

Our circular garments are either recyclable or recyclable and made from recycled materials. They have been designed to be sent back to Frugi to be collated then onto our partner LMB, who uses textile recyclers to convert it into new fabrics, helping reduce textile waste.

How does the recycling process work?
  • When your Frugi circular garment reaches the end of its wearable life: UK customers can request a free returns label via our Recycle Me form atwelovefrugi.com/recycleme.
  • Non-UK customers can send items directly to our Frugi returns address: Returns: RECYCLE ME, Frugi, Unit 2 & 2A Lodge Way, Indian Queens Industrial Estate, St Columb, Cornwall, TR9 6TF.
  • Once we have collected a minimum of 325 recyclable products, we will pass the items onto our partner LMB, who works with textile to textile recyclers to turn them into new fabrics.

Are all Frugi Clothes recyclable?

Not all Frugi garments are designed for recycling. Only those in our Circular Collection (marked with a "Recycle Me" QR code) are specifically made to be recycled through our program.

Recycling Process & How to Participate

How do I know if my Frugi garment is recyclable?

Look for the Recycle Me QR code on the garment’s care label. If present, the item is part of our Circular Collection and can be returned for recycling.

How do I return my Circular garment?
  • UK customers can request a free returns label via our Recycle Me form at welovefrugi.com/recycleme
  • Non-UK customers can send items directly to our Frugi returns address:
    Returns: RECYCLE ME,
    Frugi, Unit 2 & 2A Lodge Way,
    Indian Queens Industrial Estate,
    St Columb, Cornwall, TR9 6TF

Do I need to prepare my garment before sending it back?

Yes! Please ensure that:

  • The garment is clean
  • Any repairs, patches, or customisations are removed so it is in its original fabric state

Can I recycle multiple Frugi garments at once?

Yes! You can send multiple items together. The more we collect, the more efficiently we can process them.

Can I drop off my garment at a local textile recycling centre instead?

No, our Circular Collection garments are designed to be processed through Frugi and our partner LMB. Standard recycling centres may not have the capability to properly recycle these items.

Sustainability & Circularity

Why is Frugi focusing on circular fashion?

Most clothing recycling today results in downcycling & turning old textiles into padding, insulation, or filler. Our Circular Collection is different! These garments are designed to be recycled back into fabric, keeping valuable materials in circulation and reducing reliance on virgin resources.

What happens to my garment after I send it back?

Once we have collected a minimum of 325 recyclable products, we will pass the items onto LMB, who works with textile to textile recyclers to break them down and create new fabrics. This process helps to keep textiles out of landfills and reduces environmental impact.

What is Frugi doing to make clothes last longer?

We design for longevity with features like:

  • Extendable sleeves & adjustable straps – to grow with your child.
  • Pass-me-on labels – encouraging reuse
  • Reinforced knees & elbows – for extra durability.

Can Frugi garments be infinitely recycled?

No, while our Circular Collection garments are designed for recycling, textile recycling does have limitations. However, our goal is to keep fabrics in circulation for as long as possible before they reach the end of their lifecycle.

Other Common Questions

Can I return non-Frugi clothes for recycling?

No, our recycling program is currently only for Frugi Circular Collection garments. Other items should be donated or sent to local textile recycling programs where applicable.

How long does it take for my garment to be recycled?

Once we have collected a minimum of 325 recyclable products, we will pass the items onto our partner, LMB, for processing. The exact timeline depends on collection volumes and processing schedules.

Can I still donate my Frugi clothes instead of recycling them?

Absolutely! We encourage customers to wear, repair, and pass on their garments as many times as possible before recycling. Recycling should only be considered once an item is truly beyond use.

Are Frugi's recycled fabrics as good as new materials?

Yes! Recycled polyester, offers comparable quality to virgin polyester but uses 88% less energy to produce. Our recycled materials meet high standards for durability and comfort.

Should I wash and dry these clothes as I normally would?

Yes, there is no difference in how you need to wash these clothes compared to the rest of your Frugi wardrobe, but please do follow the care label instructions to ensure they last playtime after playtime.

Will the QR code on the care label fade in the wash?

No, the QR code has been printed with indelible ink, which will ensure it won’t fade and can be scanned even after it’s been worn and washed many times.

Is the Circular Collection more expensive than regular Frugi Clothing?

No, our Circular Collection is priced similarly to our other ranges. Sustainability should be accessible, and we’re committed to offering circular fashion at a fair price.

Why does Frugi not claim to be "100% sustainable" or "fully circular"?

We believe in honest and transparent communication. While we are making big strides toward circularity, textile recycling has limitations, and we acknowledge that sustainability is a continuous journey rather than a final destination.
